I used the 7 Dots "Destination Unknown" Collection and cut out the anchor/ banner. The Banner reads Dead men tell no tales. From the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. So that is where my idea started at. I wanted to make the anchor look like it was at the bottom of ole Davy Jones's Locker. Ya know at the bottom of the Ocean. So I pulled out my Sea Weed chippies, and Sea Grass chippies. Then found the compass and Wheel chippies that I had left out of the Nautical 6 piece set. Perfect pieces to play with to create a Pirate tag!! Oh and I used the Distressed script stamp too! Love how it dresses up the BG on this tag! Ok on to the close ups..
The compass was covered (raw) lower half with Peacock Feathers (Tim Holtz ink) and the black soot. I then misted it with the same Lindy's as the wheel. I did go back over the top with more of the black soot after it was dry.
The Seaweed and Seagrass was done the same way. First I covered both of them with Gesso. I used layers of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. First I used the Sea Kelp and brushed it on not covering the whole piece. Then I brushed on Aloha Green in the remaining white areas. Now I go over both colors (not coloring the whole piece) with Emerald cove. This one I kinda used it to link the colors together. Just brushed it on till I got the look I was going after. Covered some more with Peacock feathers after they dried. Edged with Black Soot ink.
