** Time Flies** LO

Sharing a LO that I done of my DS for the Challenge that I am hosting at Flying Unicorn called "Lovely Layers". I have been doing a lot of Girly LO's and felt like I was leaving DS out.. So I have a stash of TH pp that I have never used and sat down and got one done of him.. My how time is flying really quick! It seem just like yesterday that he was a baby... He is already taller than me!! I used a lot of TH goodies in this LO.. Here is the LO and some close ups!
I used on most all of this LO Tim Holtz PP and embellies. With the exception of a piece of Fabscraps where the title is, its out of the "Classic collection" You can find this in the Flying Unicorn Store, the DA Clock faces (new DA Available in the Flying Unicorn store) and CS which is CTMH along with the stars and medal pieces used on the TH clock faces and the TH glassine pocket. Lots of layering on this piece. I used 5 different PP. Here are some close ups..

Just loved the natural color of the DA clock faces!

Have a pocket I plan on putting some journaling in...

This was a really fun LO.. I hope you enjoyed it and will join me at Flying Unicorn for my Challenge this month!

Now for a little Flying Unicorn News..

I am so excited to announce our new March Guest Designer at Flying Unicorn but first want to say what a fabulous experience it was to have Gerry van Gent as our February designer! She did some amazing projects with the February kit!! We were beyond ecstatic to have her with us and hope we can get her to return in the future.

Now, I am SO happy to announce our March Guest Designer...Jeni O' Connor!  Her style is so hearfelt and dreamy. Each page tells a story..it's like getting lost in a fairy tale.  Each time you will see something new.

A little about Jeni:

I'm an Aussie with a Canadian dh so we spend time in two beautiful countries. I'm a mum to twins who are growing up way too fast for me. Crafting has always been a part of my life and scrapping is where I spend most of creative time.

Jeni is a great designer and designs for Manor House Creations, Scrapbook Creations Magazine, OUAS, and has guest designed for companies like Imaginarium and Websters, to name a few. She is going to be a great addition to the Flying Unicorn Team!

**Beaucoup D' Amour LO** Spotlighting Kaisercraft at Flying Unicorn

I love the Kaisercraft collections! They are always detailed and very easy to scrap with, to make LO's that are beautiful. I used the "Bonjour" collection for today's post. I used the "Nancy", "Mairie" and "Madeleine" PP. I also tried out a new technique called Iris folding. You can see it a little in the background. Beautiful soft colors of blues pinks and greens. Along with my LO I found that my new purchase from the Flying Unicorn Store the lovely Manor House Flowers matched perfectly! It was almost like they was made for each other! Here is the LO..

Of course I added a mix of our Flying Unicorn flowers too! The Flowers I used are as follows Manor House- "Sugar and spice-pink", "Cutie Pie Lime" and "Wishes - Serenity". Flying Unicorn Flowers- the new "Fairy Pink" and the "Summer Love", "Enchanted Passion Blue and White Variegated" and "Secrets". I also Altered  a Dusty Attic Frame, with Gesso, Puffy paint, Tattered angels mist and Shimmerz Paint. The Green Swirl at the bottom is Prima Borders "Madeline". I also used the sticker sheet for the Crown and title from the "Bonjour" collection. The Butterfly is as well from the "Bonjour" collection. Martha punch "Lace" around the border. This collection is extremely beautiful! Here are some close ups.
Close up of the blooms.. Here is another..
They match this collection so very well!! Here is a close up of the Dusty attic Piece.

My dd said "Mom that page looks like spring.." and I guess it does! Maybe I am really ready for it!! LOL Almost everything you see here is available in the Flying Unicorn Store. New shipments of Dusty Attic and flowers have been recently added! Make sure ya pick some of this beautiful paper too!! Thanks so much for  looking and hope ya have a awesome day!

**Flying Unicorn Make It Work Blog Hop**

Welcome to the Flying Unicorn Make it Work! Blog Hop. We’re so happy that you’ve joined us! The Hop starts at the Flying Unicorn blog, so if you didn’t start there, hop on over to this link and get started so that you don’t miss anything! I’ll see you back here in a bit!

Now I would like to share my LO that I did for the hop along with some close ups. Each CT member was to pick a designer for inspiration and then make a project or LO from this inspiration. I chose as my designer Dolce and Gabbana. I really am new to the high end fashion industry so this was very exciting to me. D&G are amazing designers and a little edgy, but that was Ok for me. I picked out pieces of their designs and came out with a piece that I was very happy with. First let me show you the pieces that I found on the web for inspiration to work with.

They have pleats, lace and lacing. That I thought to myself hummm... I think I can work with this! Not to mention the colors worked ever so well with the awesome PP that I just got from the Flying Unicorn store!! The new line out from Fabscraps called Classic Collection! The colors just went together like peas and carrots!! Here is my LO that I did.

Yes I even made the ribbon out of the "Black Lace" from Fabscraps. I saw in D&G's designs many things that we do as scrappers. Stitching, lace, lacing and pleats. A through in a little edginess just for good measure. Not to much tho this is my DD in the LO so I kept that under control!! LOL

I used my MS punch around the LO and the heart shape lacy punch. I made the pleats out of CS and ribbon. The other PP that I used was also from the same collection they are "classic flower" that is at the bottom and a little below the lacing. Also "Classic Red Bird" Middle and "Classic Rhythm". All the flowers I used other than my big hand made one that has my DD in the center, you can find in the Flying Unicorn store. They are Flying Unicorn brand Collection is the Victorian Garden "Fairy White" and "Fairy Tan". I also used one of the new MH flowers. We just got a new shipment of these in the Flying Unicorn store!! I used the small Petaloo flowers called Canterbury Forgetme nots they are the Beige/Brown/Sage little blooms and the little roses are Flying Unicorn brand as well. Butterflies are Lisa Gregory's and the butterfly trails are EKsuccess. Now for a few close ups..
This is the lacing that I done and you can see my hand stitching as well.. I don't do this very often but it was worth it for this LO!
My title is "Couture" I thought it fit my DD well because she is defiantly "one of a kind"! LOL the lettering is EKsuccess as well. You can see my hand made pleats. I just took a piece of CS and laid it in front of my ruler and marked the 1/4 and inch mark all the way down. I then took and folded the CS after I scored it first using my marks that I made. Took a tape runner attached the ribbon and refolded it taped the back to hold the creases and attached. Last close up.
Here is a close up of the Yummy blooms!! Just had to show ya!!

There is a reason that the Creative Team members are all featuring fashion on their blogs during this hop. This is just a preview of the fun we are going to have in March during our Haute Couture at the Unicorn Ritz challenges! Wait until you see the OTP project, it is so fabulous. Hmmmm, what is haute couture, anyway?

“The term "haute couture" is French. Haute means "high" or "elegant." Couture literally means "sewing," but has come to indicate the business of designing, creating, and selling custom-made, high fashion women's clothes.

To be called a haute couture house, a business must belong to the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture in Paris, which is regulated by the French Department of Industry. Members must employ 15 or more people and present their collections twice a year. Each presentation must include at least 35 separate outfits for day and eveningwear." (For more information see What is Haute Couture by David Johnson.http://www.infoplease.com/spot/fashionside1.html)

I can’t wait for the March kit reveal. You are going to love it because it is the best ever!! Just to wet your appetite, here are a few sneaks from Maggi, can you hardly wait to see it?
The March kit will reveal on March 3rd at midnight. Be sure to join us in the forums for some high fashion, Unicorn style all during the month of March!

Back to the blog hop! There will be a grand prize awarded to one lucky person who visits, becomes a follower and leaves a message at all the Creative Team member blogs and the Flying Unicorn Facebook page AND each CT member will also be randomly selecting someone to win a RAK so you will have 9 chances to win!! **Spot Lighting Tattered Angels** at Flying Unicorn!

Hey everyone! Hope everone is having a great week! This week at Flying Unicorn we are spot lighting  Tattered Angels. Last weekend I played with mist! Not just any mists but, Tattered Angels mists. I wanted to really show how many things you could do with them! They are a very fun way to color just about anything! On My LO I colored flowers, seam binding, letters and yes even created my own background paper! I found this really cool video tute on making the background over at You Tube. Here is the link to the Linda Dukes tute. This was using plain ole gift tissue paper. I really loved the effect that it gave my LO.
Full-LO-Dream-in-color-f-w
In the LO I wanted to have a soft dramatic color play effect. I Used in the fore ground PP 7gypsies PP called "Walker". I so loved this paper and the color play going on. Of course there is those fab butterflies in it too! Then of course I also had to mix in a little Fabscraps pp to kinda keep it all grounded with so much color going on! The Fabscraps PP is called "Heritage rose".  I colored the prima flowers with Tattered angels "Seven Seas" this is really a more torquoise color. In the picture taken of the LO it looks like a deep blue. I also used it on some of the Petaloo flowers that I used. Colored the letters which are also Tattered Angels mistables. Then I really went nuts on the Back ground PP with a bunch of colors that I pulled out of the PP of 7gypsies. I made some of Denise's tissue flowers with the tissue that I used to make the BG paper. In the center of those I used Prima Say it in crystals. Also used them behind the "Dream" part of the title. The smaller part of the title I used Glitz tiny letters. I also used a Lablanche stamp in the lower right corner. Dusty attic butterflies and rose vine I misted as well. Then to finish it out a MS punch around the edges. Here is a close-up of the BG paper I made also the blooms I colored.

Up-close-Butterfly-f-w
Awesome effect! Loved doing it! Now for the tag I made.

Tag-f-w
I used the mist to make the Background of this tag with the same Lablanche stamp used up above in my LO. This is a technique that I learned a while back with gesso from Lisa Valentine. Its really cool to do as well!! Although I didn't like how the first tag turned out with the image I chose I did it again this time I colored the entire tag heavily with Tattered angels "Black Magic" then covered the entire tag with gesso. Let it form a lite skin then pressed my stamp down in it. Being really careful I then peeled the tag of the stamp (cleaned my stamp before anything else) and dryed with my heat gun. After that gesso was dry really well, I then added layers of the Tattered Angels "Seven Seas" mist. Blotting the mist dry with each layer. Some of the gesso shines through adding awesome texture! I really wanted the image to pop just a bit more so I litely hit the areas of the image with some black chalk. Inked the edges and embellished. So much fun!! Here is a close-up of the tag.
Up-close-of-the-tag-f-w
Other Items used was another Lablanche stamp on TH glassine paper. Colored that as well, with CTMH markers. The little roses are our very own Flying Unicorn brand. The clock face is TH and the tower and the memories sentiment is Prima. The other stamp used is Pinkpaislee "butterfly garden". The Large piece of lace and the angel is also Flying Unicorn brand embellishment pack you can get full of buttons, lace and all kinds of cool goodies to use. The other laces and ribbons are from my stash. Check out the store and Load up on some Tattered Angels mists! Most all of things I used came from the Flying Unicorn store and there are also new LaBlanche stamps in too!! Here is the link to the store. Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

***Guest Designer Gerry Van Gent***

I feel star struck! This month we will be having Gerry Van Gent as our Guest Designer!!!! WOW!! She is a Extremely talented lady!! I am so excited that she will be hanging out all month long!! She has been working on our KOM.. Oh and I can't wait to see what she does with it!! Here is a little about Gerry..

My name is Gerry - a 38 years old Bulgarian woman who lives in The Netherlands. I`m a mom of two adorable kids and a wife of a very supportive hubby. I`m a SAHM and I have plenty of time to spend with my kids and of course I have plenty of time for my hobbies...scrapbooking and photography. I got involved in scrapbooking back in 2003 when my first child was born and I never stopped since then. I find inspiration in my kids, in every day life and of course in the products I work with.
My work is always detailed and dimensional. I love misting, masking, stamping, making my own embellishments and I love hand-stitching on my layouts.
I currently design for Webster`s Pages, The Scrap Cake, The Color Room, Imaginarium Designs, Once Upon A Sketch, Manor House Creations, Scrapdelight and I`m a teacher at Miss Art`s Papercrafting school.
I`m so honored and happy to be guest-designing for Flying Unicorn - amazing kits to work with and a must-have for every crafter. Thank you for this opportunity!

Come on over and check out what she does at the Flying Unicorn!!
