** Flying Unicorn Gives Back Blog Hop **

If you just came from Lynne's blog then you're on the right track! If you have gotten lost along the way here is the beginning blog hop Flying Unicorn. To get ya going again! Happy Hopping!! :)

Every year in the month of November, Flying Unicorn sponsors "Flying Unicorn Gives Back." This year, we've chosen a nationally recognized charity, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.

For each project that is uploaded to our forum gallery, Flying Unicorn donates $1.00 to a maximum of $1,000 and. we've always reached our goal. With your help this year we will again.! Flying Unicorn also donates 5% of all sales during the month of November to the charity. Finally, do not forget to mark your calendars for our Silent Auction November 8th - November 16th .

We have set up the Flying Unicorn page on the Best Friends site where monetary donations can be made as well to help us reach this years goal of $3000.00 in charitable donations.

Best Friends' mission of No More Homeless Pets tries to place dogs and cats who are considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs. Since its inception, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year. There has been much progress, but there is still much more to do. Best Friends made national headlines with their intensive efforts in rescuing so many animals in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina..

In honor of Best Friends, and the November Kit of the Month -Hear'ts Twilight - I would like to share with you the extra special project I made using the Kit of the month :

I choose to do a LO of my sweet Macy.. I lost her on 10/13/13.. She was my best buddy and it really hit me hard when she died. Me and Maggi, who has also lost a fur baby this year are also teaming up with a challenge to help raise more for this worthy cause.. Stay tuned for more information on that as well!

I love using the gorgeous papers in this kit. It is one of my most fave kits to date! The Studio 75 papers "Rosalie in the Garden" collection (love these!!) and the Yummy CS in this kit matched my furbaby to the T!! Oh and those YUMMY Prima flowers.. This kit is LOADED with YUMMY flowers!!! I think I could handle a repeat of this kit I loved it so much! LOL

The only thing that I added additional was a few extra mediums and the laser cut chippies. Never fear tho we have them in the Flying Unicorn store!! They are the New Leaky Shed Chippies (Large center piece paper covered piece under the pic and the corner). The Wing chippies are Dusty Attic I have had for a long time.. I think I am a Chippy hoarder! LOL The Letter Chippies are in the kit as well as the wooden heart and bird!!! They are treated with Aged Ivory Embossing powder. Love this stuff for chippies!! Here is the LO and a few close ups..

I don't know if you can see it or not.. But on the chippy above her name is a halo.. I thought it was cool that on this piece I found that. So I did it in gold and that was the only section of the piece that I colored. That was a special little touch for me.. She was an angel in every sense of the word! Well most of the time anyways! LOL When she was not getting into things! Miss her always, but remembered forever in our hearts.

So now on to the kit!! More things to see right around the corner!!!

Heart's Twilight is now available with an amazing and fun off the page creation- take a look:

*** Leaky Shed Friday with Shona and Me For Flying Unicorn ***

Hello everyone!! Shona and I (Tammy) will be taking you to Leaky Shed land today. These are some gorgeous chippies and super fun to play with and alter or not. They look simple amazing either way you go. No right or wrong way to use them. One of my fave things about these chippies is no digging them out of any chipboard surroundings. They come ready to go! The quality of the chipboard is amazing too! Nice and thick not flimsy at all. Detail well.. Let us just show you! I made a tag with some of mine. Here it is..

The oval frame was done with some Stampendous embossing enamel in "Shabby Blue". Oh and the Julie Nutting girl well guess what?! That is a Leaky Shed chippie!!! Yes I have used Shimmerz Textures and Dazzlers in The Spun Sugar and Patina. I also used some TH distress stain in "picket fence" as a base for everything I wanted to go on top. I don't loose any of the detail from the design in the chippie when I do us the distress stain. Then fine tuned the colors with a little bit of ink and Smooch pearlized ink. Just to add a little deeper detail. All the pattern paper is the new Websters Pages "Postcards from Paris II" The one that I used on this tag was the "Tres Belle".Super fun tag!! LOVE THESE CHIPPIES! Just had to say that.. But then again if I was a little quieter about it there would be more left for me! Hahaha  Just kidding I will share.. Beat ya to the store! LOL
Next up Shona delivering you some of her AMAZING work!! Hugs for now!

Hi everyone...Shona now LOL! I have a layout to share that I have created with these gorgeous chippys! I have used the oval frames, a corner swirl and the gears and yes mine are all naked chippys! Sometimes you just have to leave them naked, hehe.

I have used Marion Smith Designs Nirvana Collection. This is my cutie pie grandson at the pumpkin patch by the way...he is too cute! There are some Leaky Shed gear chippys tucked into all the Petaloo flowers and leaves....LOVE those Petaloo leaves too!

Here is a shot of the oval frame, and a corner swirl...all I added to them was some Viva Pearl Pen drops.

More gears tucked in with the cluster here.

Ok that is it from me and Tammy...have a great week everyone!

"Having a Blast with New Marion Smith Papers Flying Unicorn"

Hey all! Oooooo Have you guys seen the new Marion Smith papers?!!!!!! We just got them in the Flying Unicorn store and let me tell you if Marion was here I would give her the BIGGEST Scrappy HUG there is!!!!! LOL I ADORE these papers!!! Fussy cutting happiness and the images are soooo amazing!!  Can you tell I am a little excited?! LOL Well I am! Ok So I am gonna try to calm down and get thru this post.. I promise.. Breathing a little slower now.. Ok I'm good! LOL I played with the "Nirvana" collection for this post.. I found myself really having a hard time throwing away little bitty pieces. No kidding! Let me show you the LO that I did.

This is one of those LO's that kinda start out a simple idea then exploded! This is one of my favorite pics of my DS that I have taken recently. I wanted to use it with these pp. I started with just a few pieces in the BG cut out.. Then added a little more.. Then some mixed media cuz I also got some Lumiere from the Flying Unicorn store that I wanted to use too.. And the new Prima mask.. I just had to use it too.. Yeah so it grew and grew and grew!! LOL Note to self.. When using new things.. Don't do it all at once!!  How about a close up?!

The super cool thing is, almost all the elements are fussy cut elements from this pp. I plan on putting this one in Shona's Fussy Cutting Challenge this month!! Oh and the scraps.. Yeah well couldn't let them go to waste!! Heehe Here is the tag I made with a couple of left over pieces and a TH Glassine pocket. I made this for Maggi's challenge that she has going on this month.

I went from boy to girl in a drop of the hat! I wanted to create a tag, that was romantic and vintage. I am thinking "Love Notes" that was shared between my Grandma and Grandpa.. Cherished tickets from time spent together at the county fair, before he left for the war.. So that is the idea behind the tag. Now none of those old pieces are actually in this tag.. But the papers had all the items I needed to make it look like they did! Too cool huh?! Here is what I used on these 2 projects.

Next up a LO that I did using the Gorgeous Adornit PP that is in this kit! Wow Loved these bunches!!

My sweet DD she graces a lot of my pages.. So fun playing around with her when we go out a take photos.. I have no clue what I am gonna do when the day comes I can no longer do this! But in the meantime I have several photos to use until that time comes! LOL

What I used:

Not in the Kit- Cameo Used Antique gold rub and buff to color. Different gems to adorn the adornment with that comes in the kit. Oval Doily that I used Stampendous Aged gold embossing enamel to color it. Various MS punches. Tim Holtz Honeycomb mask that I received from a sweet scrappy friend Kathi Simmons. *** OTP Oct KOM Flying Unicorn's "Farmers Market and Hayrides"***

Hello everyone! Back with ya today to show ya my OTP that came in this month's KOM "Farmers Market and Hayrides" at Flying Unicorn. This is just the cutest darn little house!! Really comes in handy for October!! You can create your own little spook house display!! Its made of wood so you can get it out and enjoy it for years to come!! Here is mine..

Here are some close ups.. I even made some little ghosties out of cheese cloth and a cotton ball!! Tooo MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can see from the above pic that you can even add some little lighting inside to create a little more of a spooky feel!!!

What I used and did to create this..

First Painted the whole project with black gesso, then took a old book and glued pieces (tore each piece of book page down to small pieces, its a lot easier to cover tight areas like this!) to cover the main house area.. After that I painted the roof area with crackle paint and then a layer of white for it to be the top coat. After it dried I went back and edged and outlined the whole piece with the Black little inker that comes in this month's KOM.

Now its time to decorate! I made my own vine of sorts.. I used some sprigs that I bought years ago at HL. That was the base piece of my vine! Ran it from top to bottom going diagonally across the front of the house. I used Magnolia berries and wound them around the base vine. After I attached that I filled in with Petaloo flowers (Orange and white) and Dusty Attic in bloom flowers green. Colored some seam binding with Lindy's "Sea Mist Green" to finish off the vine.

For decoration here and there I used a sheet of Pink Paislee "Phantom" collection. That I fussy cut out to adorn the top part of my roof, The witch for the window and spider below on the entrance. Prima corner swirls at each eve. The clock at the top is a Prima wooden piece and a Flying Unicorn Adornment. I even used scrap pieces to create tops to my tomb stones that I made completely out of cardboard! Little bit of cheese cloth that I sprayed with Lindys "Lump of coal" and "Black Orchard silver" to make the house look old and wore down. Lastly my sweet little spooks to greet you at the door was made with the cheese cloth and a cotton ball, and a small thin ribbon.

Thank You for Joining me today! Stay tuned for more Projects using this months KOM!!
